An interesting thread…

  • In July 2023 A book titled “ Seven Grandfather Teachings – a journey to self healing” was authored by James Simon with Dan Graham.  Here’s a URL you might find interesting Seven Grandfather Teachings: a journey to self healing - Flipbook by plumcake | FlipHTML5

  • In September 2025 – RWB Dan Graham [Past Grand Director of Ceremonies GLC in Ontario] made a presentation to the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite [A&ASR] in Barrie Ontario on the Seven Grandfather Teachings and the Tenets and Principles of Freemasonry while writing a book on the subject.

  • In April 2026 Jeremy Hansen was a member of the Artemis II Mission. Jeremy shared how Indigenous elders’ wisdom has helped guide him through this mission. Here’s the URL Jeremy Hansen took 7 Indigenous 'Sacred Laws' to space - Upworthy
My reason for tying these links together is not so much to promote the ‘Seven Teachings’ but to draw a parallel of our Masonic learning and the Wisdom of our Elders [and Freemasonry] in our Modern World.

The Seven Grandfather Teachings are a set of principles in Anishinaabe culture that guide individuals in living a good life. They are:

  • Love: To know peace.
  • Respect: To honor all of creation.
  • Bravery/Courage: To face challenges with integrity.
  • Truth: To seek and speak the truth.
  • Honesty: To be honest in all actions.
  • Humility: To recognize one's place in the world.
  • Wisdom: To cherish knowledge and understanding

These teachings are interconnected and emphasize human conduct towards others and nature. They serve as guiding principles passed down through generations.
